Elena & Aubrey Smith - A.K.A. KOZMA & MOTU
Our entire lives have always revolved around creation in any form we could muster, both having been Artists since we were kids, we've always seen the world a bit differently. Growing up in Detroit was a hard life but always provided bountiful inspiration for our young minds. Seeing this city go through it's many ups & downs over the years has shaped us along with our craft. Having a fully realized appreciation of the beauty in decay that is Detroit has allowed us to understand the soul of the city in a variety of ways.
Drawing upon our backgrounds daily, we work with a variety of influences. Concepts of life, the universe & existence at its core are a common theme for us with scientific & historical easter eggs hidden among our special blend of chaotic order. Within our work we often explore surreal dreamscapes, abstract thought and the overall world around us while striving to capture & represent the duality of existence. In addition to enjoying creating organically, we work in around 8 styles ranging from minimal abstraction to hyper detailed epics through a multitude of mediums. We're also heavily influenced by traditional tribal & shamanistic ways of life including beliefs from various cultures around the world.
We prefer to work fully collaboratively, something that is extremely rare in any field. It's become so natural to our creative flow, after almost a decade together we wouldn't have it any other way! Our greatest source of inspiration is each other & together we're a powerhouse of passionate ideas.
Armageddon Beachparty is our fantastic creative umbrella that we came up with about 5 years ago, it's evolved into this a way of life for us & has positively impacted many. We've developed over the years into an art brand that has infinite potential for both us as Artists & for others to engage in the fantastic presence we create. Perpetuating intellectual thought, awe inspiring wonderment & unique experiences is what we do for a living. Altering perceptions of the possible is our greatest joy & life's work!
